Our Goose Control methods work as an antifeedant and a visual warning to geese. As an antifeedant, Geese who feed on your lawn after it’s treated will experience a temporary but very effective digestive irritation, usually within 20 minutes. As a visual warning, geese can see also see that we’ve treated your lawn with something because, unlike humans, they have the unique ability to recognize the treatment using the ultraviolet light spectrum. After the geese have feed on the lawn and received the digestive irritation, they will then be conditioned to view lawns with that treatment as something not to eat.
Frequently Asked Questions
What will the geese do after you treat my lawn?
Geese will sample the area. They may react by shaking their heads, drinking water, pecking at their bellies and rubbing their necks after about 20 minutes or so. Geese will not die as a result of eating our treatment. They may feed several times, drinking in between, while being conditioned to respond. Geese will learn that a treated area is not a good place to feed. This conditioning usually takes one to two days.
How does the treatment work?
When the geese eat the treated grass and have digested it, they experience a powerful intestinal tract upset and that is the consequence. The treatment is also visual to them in the UV spectrum and they will see it as they fly overhead they looking for a food source.
Will it harm my children or my pets?
No. It is not harmful to non target species.
I want to get rid of the geese but want to keep ducks and swans on my property. Is that possible?
Your ducks and swans are not affected by our treatment because they are not turf feeders.
When are some of the best times to apply the goose control treatment? How long does a treatment last?
- Apply before the migratory geese come though. If the migratory geese see the resident geese feeding, they will try to feed also.
- Apply as the grass is dormant because the treatment will not wash away if it rains, snows, or you irrigate.
- Apply before geese pair up and nest (February/March)
- The treatment will last 2-3 mowing cycles.
