7 Tips To Help You Achieve a Greener, Thicker, And Healthier Lawn…

There is nothing more appealing for an afternoon picnic, a spot to take a picture, or any social gathering than a beautiful green lawn in the summer. Here are some ways to have the perfect lawn all summer long.

1/3 Rule

Don’t remove more than ⅓ of the grass blade. When someone cuts their grass too short, the lawn stresses to survive and will end up looking burnt out.

Acceptable Grass Height

Long grass blades allow roots to grow deeper in the soil. With deeper roots, the grass can withstand periods of drought and combat pests and diseases.

Mower Blades

Sharp mower blades will enhance the appearance of your lawn. Grass also recovers more quickly when you use sharp blades.

Fertilizer

Applying fertilizer will promote a healthier and greener lawn. It is important to make sure you are doing it at the right time of year.

Pests And Diseases

If you notice brown circles or dry patches in your lawn, this indicates an issue. If this travels under the soil it can cause big circles which could be a fungal disease or insects. Proper treatment is imperative to restore your lawn.

Watering

Not a shallow watering, but a deep watering is crucial for your lawn. It is more important that your lawn receives one inch of water to 12 inches of soil three times a week rather than a shallow watering daily.

Irrigation System

If you have an irrigation system, be sure to test the system. Place a few straight-sided pans around the lawn and monitor how long it takes for one inch of water to accumulate. Make sure all the pans get the same amount of water. Some necessary adjustments to the sprinklers may need to be done.
