Good Lawn Care is the Best Prevention Against Lawn Diseases That Don’t Respond Well to Treatment

The best defense for all lawn disease is prevention. Some lawn diseases are easily eradicated while others are very hard to get rid of and some can be practically impossible to remove. You may need to call a professional Lawn Care Company if your lawn is suffering from any of the following diseases…

brown patch

Brown Patch

Brown patch usually exists in hot and humid weather. The patches will spread across the lawn and will overlap resulting in large areas of brown, dead grass.

Dollar Spot

Dollar Spot

Dollar spots takes the shape of a silver dollar. Very similar to brown patch the spots will overlap and cause dead grass. This disease thrives in a nitrogen-deprived environment and usually in the summertime.

Fairy Rings

Fairy Rings

Fairy rings show up as ring pattern in the grass. This is a fungus that invades your lawn. You must dig out the pieces of land that have been affected. You may have to dig two feet under the surface and one foot outside the ring to get rid of the fungus. The hope is that you do not need to replace your whole lawn.

Pythium Blight

Pythium Blight

Pythium blight is prevalent in the summer in humid weather. It can occur during periods of cool wet weather, but the disease is most severe during periods of hot humid, rainy or cloudy weather. The highest frequency of infection occurs during periods of high relative humidity and prolonged leaf wetness. This is a deadly lawn disease and spreads very quickly if left untreated.

Red Thread

Red Thread

Red thread most commonly affects Kentucky bluegrass, perennial ryegrass, and tall fescue. Outbreaks usually occur in low maintenance turf stands. Red thread development is most common where turfgrass nutrition is poor. As it spreads it begins to look like scorched grass and has red thread-like colors on the blade.
